(More customer reviews)I was relieved and happy to see this call button on my porch, I've been wanting my mother to have one for a long time now. We tried the life services button that calls a remote emergency line but they are not necessary anymore now that someone is with my mother 24/7. We just needed some way for her to let us know she needed help when we were in another room or in the yard or garage.
The button she wears (that came with the unit) is rather large and she has a bit of difficulty pressing it hard enough to make it call the pager (which I wear). After some practice runs she was able to press the call button without too much trouble.
The pager works great, I really like the "doorbell/alarm" feature. I use the door bell on the pager for her to call me during the day. It ding dongs once on the pager and that's it which is good for me during waking hours. At night when I am sleeping (it's very difficult to wake me during the night) I use the alarm feature which sounds an "alarming", continuous sound that doesn't stop until I turn it off on the pager. It's very useful and wakes me up with no problem.
The only problem I have with this unit is that the pager (that the caregiver wears) knocks off my hip very easily. The clip on it ought to be stronger or larger to ensure this doesn't happen. The worst incident when the clip failed me was when I went to the bathroom and it fell off into the dirty toilet. That is why I'm ordering yet another unit. I tried to clean it up and dry it out but it still doesn't work.
The price is okay, it's very worth paying sixty something dollars for the peace of mind my mother and I have in case she needs me and I'm not sitting right next to her. On the other hand, looking at the unit, I don't know why it couldn't sell for half that price. It does come with an extra patient call button but I only have one mother so we really didn't need the spare. It's the pager (for caregivers) that I would have liked a backup of.
Off to order another unit, I hope I get my "free shipping" as the company says I get when I order this time. I didn't get free shipping last time. *(sigh)
