(More customer reviews)I wanted a good quality cordless phone with minimal bling: wall mountable, with an answering machine and easily replaceable rechargeable batteries. I chose this Siemens phone because I once owned a Siemens cellular phone that impressed me with its brick-like ruggedness and overall quality.
I didn't want to go with the most popular brand because I am tired of having them die every year. I don't like cordless phones - all of the phones in the house are hard-wired Western Electric units - but felt we needed one cordless handset for those rare occasions when we need to move around while talking on the phone.
This was a disappointment, and I don't think it will last longer than the other cordless phones we've owned. It simply doesn't have a quality feel about it, and there's absolutely nothing about these phones that makes them worth the price.
PROS:
1. Uses standard AAA rechargeable batteries; not a OEM battery pack.
2. Screen font is simple and is easy to read.
3. We can make and receive calls.
CONS:
1. Feels flimsy in all aspects, from physical weight to tactile response when pressing a key.
2. Voice quality is poor; tinny and weak. Sounds like a cell phone in a fringe area.
3. Ring tones are shrill - startling, in fact - as are all the optional tones.
4. NOT WALL MOUNTABLE by any normal means. Yes, you can mount it on a wall if you are willing to drill separate holes for mounting screws (not included). There's no possible way to mount it to a faceplate, and it mounts horizontally (shelf-like), not vertically. Like THAT works in a kitchen (or anyplace else).
5. NOT A DUAL KEYPAD UNIT. Yes, the photo is correct and shows the base unit only has answering machine buttons, but the text says "dual keypad" which implies a separate keypad on the base unit - which is very nice when you can't locate the handset.
We'll probably keep it until it dies, but I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHONE TO ANYONE, not even people I don't like.
