It can store video streams from up to six cameras, which is nice, and allows you to download excerpts from the video streams to your PC, which is nice when you have some sort of incident and need to send the camera footage to the police.
However, it is a pain to use. First of all, it ONLY supports Internet Explorer. I have a Mac, so this was a pretty big hardship for me. In this day and age where more and more people are using Macs or Linux, couldn't they have written their software so that it isn't so dependent on a single platform? A Java applet would have been a much better choice than the ActiveX direction they went.
Further, even with the ActiveX applet it is a pain, due to all the security restrictions in IE these days. To view this stuff remotely you have to disable half the security features in IE, leaving your Windows computer even more open to malware than it usually is. Plus, it does two different installs: one for the live viewer, and one for the archive viewer. It's very touchy, and you end up waiting for a long time for the software to download and initiate the install. And of course if the user isn't the machine's administrator, fuggedaboutit!
Overall, I think it is a great concept, but the software makes it a very bad choice. I will keep looking for a better solution to dealing with my security cameras.
