(More customer reviews)This thing works, but it's got some frustrating shortcomings, both as a controller and as a programmer. As a controller: sleep mode doesn't just shut off the screen, it shuts down the keypad too. To actually control your lights, you'll need to press a button to wake it up, wait roughly a second, then press a button to actually send a command. That's incredibly annoying. Also, there's a "default profile" that controls the first four "areas" you configure, and there's no way to turn it off or reprogram it. You can set up other profiles, but you can't get rid of the useless default. And you can set a ramp-up rate for scene control, but you can't set a ramp-down rate, so you get some default (appears to be two or three seconds in my test setup, but that's probably a function of the lamp modules?). And you can't program scenes at all -- you'll need another product to do that. Also, it's not super-obvious from any of the info online, but this model doesn't come with a charging base like the VRCPG-SG.
Quirky. Annoying. I'll be returning mine.
(For background: I've been using Insteon for a few years, but am evaluating Z-Wave in the hope that it will prove to be more reliable. This is the first Z-Wave remote/controller I've tried.)
