Bulldog RS82-I Do It Yourself Remote Starter Review

Bulldog RS82-I Do It Yourself Remote Starter

I got one of these units for Christmas ended up having to order the security bypass unit in order to get around the transponder key security. I also purchased the T-Harness for my car (highly recommended).
I like that you can install none, some, or all of the optional features to make the installation much easier. I initially just installed the basic remote starter using the T-Harness, and then there are just a couple of additional connections (ground, and brake switch) that need to be connected.
AFter about a week or so, I decided to install the parking light confirmation which just involved locating the right wire, and connecting one of the wires from the unit to it.
I am not a mechanic, and I just started doing a few things on my own with my vehicle. This took me about 5 hours to install start to finish (including removing and re-installing dash/trim panels), but someone with more experience with these types of installations could probably do it much faster.
I find the range to be okay -- enough to start it in the driveway or perhaps from a store if I'm in a close parking space.

Viper DEI 3203 2-way Security System Review

Viper DEI 3203 2-way Security System

I'll start with only negative thing to be said about this alarm system. Passive arm needs to be programed by a special bit writer. So the alarm won't arm unless you manually hit the arm button. So if you simply walk away from your car and forget to arm it, your car will just stay unarmed, period. I did the install by myself and found it to be real easy given the fact my car has an aftermarket alarm already installed. The two way remote is awesome, it lights up and rings when the alarm goes off.

Suunto X-Lander Wrist-Top Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass, and Chronograph Review

Suunto X-Lander Wrist-Top Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, Compass, and Chronograph
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently ordered this watch from Amazon as a companion for a LTt Observer to wear in the field. While the Observer is a more updated model they both share very similiar features and ease of operation.
My first recommendation is that you do order this from amazon.com and be wary of the same item offered by "market place sellers". At the time I initially placed the order amazon.com was out and the wait was estimated to be 3 to 5 weeks. Since the item was also offered by another seller in amazon's referral system I placed an order and wound up with the wrong watch; turns out the market place seller didn't carry the black face model. Fortunately amazon got a supply in and shipped my watch within 24 hours....good service. The black face is a little hard to come by.
Now then, to the watch itself. First of all it IS big...but very light; almost as light as the titanium Observer I have. The larger face makes it easier to read and Suunto has apparently gone back to the leather (waterproof) band, which I prefer. Functionally, the watch is a full blown time keeper and (non GPS) navigation system including stop watch/chronometer functions, an accurate altimeter, a barometer and digital compass. Both the compass and the altimeter are as accurate as I've found in analog portable units. The alarms are sufficiently loud (unlike the only chink in the Observer) and my only criticism is that the back light is weak compared to the Observer, but that fault doesn't draw anything away from the 5 star rating. Add the user replaceable battery (Suunto makes a kit that includes the battery, a water/dust seal and a new cap), the intuitive operating system and you have the ultimate back country time piece.
Suunto was the first to offer this type of time piece and, in my opinion, still offers the best. I've used their diving computers and field compasses for years and am a fan of the company's many products. I don't think there's a clunker in the catalog.

The ultimate option for the outdoor enthusiast, the silver Suunto X-Lander wrist-top computer offers an accurate altimeter, a complete barometer, a precise electronic compass, and a multifunction sports watch in a single elegant package. Regardless of your excursion--whether it's climbing mountains, riding a muddy bike track, or skiing off piste--you need accurate, real-time information about your surroundings to pull off a successful trip. The X-Lander contributes by not only providing important data, but also keeping track of your activities so you can make rational decisions at key moments. In addition, the watch is user-friendly and solidly built, with a non-allergenic aluminum casing, a carbon-fiber back, a durable mineral crystal glass, and a water-resistant fabric strap.
The built-in altimeter, which boasts a range of up to 29,500 feet, puts all 14 of the world's 8,000-plus-meter summits within the avid climber's range. Among the altimeter's functions are an altitude measurement function that lets you follow the vertical progress between stages, an automatic 24-hour memory that stores the altitude and ascent/decent rate for every hour, and an adjustable altitude alarm. Climbers will also dig the logbook function, which lets you record total and cumulative vertical ascents and descents as well as the number of runs skied.
The X-Lander also displays the current barometric pressure and temperature--a must for activities in which weather plays a factor. The device automatically records barometric data for the previous four days, with the first six hours manifested in one-hour intervals and the rest in six-hour intervals. When the reference altitude is set correctly, the instrument also displays the present sea level pressure, which makes it easier to read and understand the barometric pressure at high altitudes.
And few things are more important when exploring unfamiliar territory than a compass. The X-Lander's electronic compass contributes by guiding you with cardinal or half- cardinal points and a North-South arrow. The compass can also be set to track a certain bearing, which helps you follow a chosen direction. Meanwhile, the unit's declination adjustment function allows you to correct the difference between true North and magnetic North.
In addition to the variety of outdoor functions, the X-Lander also displays normal time, with such add-ons as three daily alarms, a calendar programmed to the year 2089, a stopwatch with split-time measurement, and a countdown timer. Other features include a durable negative LCD display, a user-replaceable battery, and water-resistance to 100 feet. The X-Lander is backed by a two-year warranty on parts and labor.
What's in the Box? X-Lander wrist-top computer, battery, user's manual.

Sony ICF-CD2000 CD Clock Radio with FM/AM Radio and Backlit Display Review

Sony ICF-CD2000 CD Clock Radio with FM/AM Radio and Backlit Display
Average Reviews:

This is a good choice for an office radio because: a) the small size makes it easy lock in a drawer each night;b) it has an antenna that extends or retracts;c) it has digital tuning (and mega-bass);d) it can play very softly or pretty loudly;e) I can hit the stop button quickly.
Among the drawbacks are: a) the controls are not quick to find (for example: I always have to look for the CD play mode button) and not the easiest to understand;b) the high price - I think you pay for the Sony brand and the lightweight size.

SDI iHome iP99BR - Clock radio with iPhone / iPod cradle Review

SDI iHome iP99BR - Clock radio with iPhone / iPod cradle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With the "Logitech® Pure-Fi Dream" now an aborted project (a Logitech sales rep told me, point blank; no chance), and the ExtremeMac "Luna X2" getting pushed back AGAIN and AGAIN, iPhone and Touch users are finding it pretty difficult to track down a compatable alarm clock.
I bought an IH9 from iHome, and tried it out for a few weeks. A great unit, with one deal-breaking exception. Humming at low volumes!! I tried turning off the Wi-Fi...., lowering the backlight... but I still had this annoying hum. When the device is 3 feet from your pillow, and you use it for going to sleep, this flaw is unforgivable.
Returned the unit, and just received my iP99BR direct from iHome.
Well, I love it. The design is slightly less sexified than the IH9, but the sound seems slightly bolder. The remote is larger, and feels weighted; a comfortable fit. One disadvantage of the design is that the display is straight-on, whereas the IH9 seemed tilted up slightly, which gave a better visibility. Not really a major complaint.
The key difference is that the iP99BR appears to have corrected the horrid humming sound at low (and all) volumes that plagued the IH9. I suppose they shielded the speakers correctly, but in any case, my only real complaint has been resolved.
The bottom line is, for iPhone and Touch owners, the iP99BR is the only game in town.... certainly at this price-point.
I won't bother to go over the feature set. Just look at the product description and reviews for the IH9. They share identical features, which are legion, and are great.

Hootoo Outdoor Waterproof Wireless/wired Ip Camera with Night Vision and Motion Detection Alarm, Apple Mac and Windows Compatible, Silver Review

Hootoo Outdoor Waterproof Wireless/wired Ip Camera with Night Vision and Motion Detection Alarm, Apple Mac and Windows Compatible, Silver
Average Reviews:

Frame rate advertised suggests 30 frames per second. That is with the CIF video size which is pretty useless. So double the video size and you get 15 fps. Not bad for the price but if you try this wirelessly you may not get that rate. Also, this is only in the day. Once I tried this at night for surveillance I could only get 4 fps. My house was vandalized that night and the images weren't clear enough for identification and that was with a light on but low light conditions.
Support is of no help at all.
I am still searching for a good camera.

Scytek VisionGuard 8000 Security and Remote Engine Starter System Review

Scytek VisionGuard 8000 Security and Remote Engine Starter System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

We purchased two of this for our cars. Within 2 months, all the video remotes failed. Then the LEDs failed. Then the sensors failed. Then the video tranmissions failed. Beware of the carbon fiber look. They are not carbon fiber. Just cheap plastic, designed to look like carbon fiber. The remote's fail so easily. Two of them also broke. This is not even handled by kids.
You can't call the company for support. They will force you to call some retailer, which is next to imposisble to contact, and they charge a premium for replacing items even under warranty.
The manufacturer don't respect any warranty. They're based in LA. You try to contact them with e-mail and they just ignored us.
We spend $800+ for both units and $200 installation charges of each of them. We could have just trashed $1000 into the waste basket.
Don't be decieved by the cool look and hitech promises.
The bad thing was that we put one of them on our most expensive/rare car and now we are forced to pull it out and trash it.
Our Alarm installer, just warned us, saying the product is pretty flimsy and the components are not good. But we just took a chance on it and regret it.
We just dont' want others to make such mistake by it's hitech looks.

Emerson SmartSet CKS1855 - Clock radio Review

Emerson SmartSet CKS1855 - Clock radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don't confuse this with "atomic clocks" that use a radio signal to set themselves. As far as I can figure out, this simply runs off a battery-backed-up clock chip, like you'd find in a wrist watch. You may need to set it once out of the box if you got it through gray market channels. However, once you get over that, it works great. The back-up battery should last 5 years or more. I have never found an "atomic clock" that was AC powered and had a display you could see in the dark, so I was glad to find this, even though it is not "atomic". I live in an area with frequent power glitches, and an older 'clock radio' needed to have the time set at least once a month. This solved the problem completely, so I can live with the misleading marketing.
I had another model from this company, with blue digits, and it was older so it did not adjust for Daylight Savings Time correctly. I can tell you that everything wrong with that one is OK in this model.

This review isn't for those who are familiar with Infinity Kappa but more those who are not. I purchased a pair of these about 2 months ago. I have not matched them up with a amp as of yet because I will be buying 2 more for the rear. I have a JVC AVX830 pushing them and they really sound off. Unfortunately the JVC AVX830 is very limited to controlling the highs and lows being sent to my kappas. The tweeters are a little on the large side but easily overlooked once they start singing to you. The mids from the speaker itself are smooth and undistorted. The filters are a bit large but wasn't really a problem since I installed them in a larger vehicle (Crown Vic). The decible button control button on the filters is a nice feature as well being able to adjust from 0db to -6db (especially since I don't have'm hooked to a amplifier yet). You absolutely can't miss with these components. My only suggestion would be to match up with a good amplifier with crossover controls and high/lowpass filter pushing at least 90-100 watts rms at 2ohms.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Infinity 6809CS 270W (Peak) 6 x 8 / 5 x 7 -Inch Two-Way Speakers (Pair)

The Kappa 680.9cs component speaker system features 5""x7""/6""x8"" woofers with responsive woven glass-fiber cones that won't flex during a hard workout. The Plus One design offers a larger surface area for improved low-frequency output and efficiency, while longer voice coils add a little more punch to the bass. Large magnets keep the woofers running cooler by placing more steel close to the voice coils to act as a heat sink. Infinity uses the same textile dome tweeters found in many of their popular home speakers with this Kappa system, so you'll hear the music the way it was recorded with minimal coloration or distortion. The tweeters handle down to 2,500 Hz, almost an octave below the tweeters in many systems, so you'll hear more definition and detail, no matter where you sit. Infinity includes mounting hardware to install the tweeters in custom or factory openings. The computer-optimized outboard crossover networks employ audiophile-grade components to separate highs and lows, so that the woofer and tweeter work together perfectly. You can attenuate tweeter response by 6 dB to get the perfect sonic balance if you've mounted the tweeters in a less-than-ideal factory location. Pre-wired crossovers eliminate a time-consuming step in your installation, and terminals at the end of the crossover wires screw directly to the Kappa woofers and tweeters, leaving no chance for incorrect wiring.

I am disappointed with the seller of this product. The product seems to be fine and works good. The problem is Home Security4less sells the product, but I can't get technical help from them regarding some of the features. If you call the supplier, Home Security Store, they refuse to help you because they are separate from HS4L, although they (Home Security Store), apparently, ships the product from their warehouse. What a mess. I would suggest anyone wanting to buy this product should purchase it from the Home Security Store and pay a little more for it and they will help you with installation questions.

Powermax + Wireless Security System Review

Powermax + Wireless Security System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned my Visonic Powermax system for a year and a half, and it has been stellar. In that time we have had one false alarm while we were at work that resulted in a visit from a police cruiser (25 minutes after the 911 call!). When the system notification came we knew that the alarm was set off by a motion detector in the living room, but no doors or windows were violated. I blame the cat, and I had set the sensor for maximum sensitivity. I put it back to normal, and have had no problems since.
Only real complaints have been that the setup can be confusing, and bypassing a zone can be a real PITA. When we go away and have a neighbor check on our dog it is simpler to disable the garage sensors than give them access to the whole house. The only way to do this is via the installer menu, which is very odd.
Despite what the previous reviewer said a wireless keypad is available, it is part number MCM 140. I consider this an essential, because mounting the panel near an entry door is asking for it to be destroyed very quickly should someone break in. The control panel should go in a closet near the center of the house, and you should run external sirens to it (disable the panel siren).
Many other accessories are available for the Powermax, including smoke detectors and breaking glass sensors. All are easily integrated into the system.
I highly recommend this alarm system, despite the odd programiing quirks.

Ok the Alarm is great, feature are awesome. Took roughly 2 1/2 hours to install but it is worth it. What I like about it the most is that a lot of the programming I can do myself, no need for technician to change codes or program options for me. Only thing I would recommend which I plan to do, is get the Cliffnet Wizard Kit, this is an optional item that allows you to connect your laptop to the alarm for easy programming.
