(More customer reviews)Works as described but I have several beefs. First, the instructions that are included with the unit are worthless. Go to the Velleman web site and download the users manual - it's excellently written. Too bad they couldn't reprint it and provide it with the product. Second, the controls don't do much. The volume can be adjusted between "way too loud" and "too loud". And the duration timer doesn't do anything.
However, it does ring when someone comes through my door and since I had already read the online users manual it was easy to install.

Velleman's PEM7D mini infrared security system can be used for entry or presence detection. For detection, a retro-reflection IR photoelectric beam sensor with a detection range of 23 ft. is included. Also included is a regulated power supply, and alarm speaker. The speaker output can be changed from a one second chime to a 30 second alarm and the volume is adjustable as well. Alarm activation may be changed from three to 30 seconds after the IR sensor is tripped.
