The dimmer is very very nice, as my previous alarm clock had an 'auto-dimmer' which stayed on the 'retna-burning' bright mode all night. plays ipod/iphone just fine. not expensive.. what else can you want in an affordable alarm clock?

The iP11 is a bare-bones iPod dock and alarm clock with a refined feature set. Wake or sleep to your favorite iPhone/iPod tunes with great fidelity in a small package, instantly sync the time to your iPhone/iPod, plug in an external device such as an MP3 player, and get up and go with a fully charged iPod.
Universal iPod Dock Listen to your favorite iPod content from most docking iPod models. The iP11 charges your iPod while you enjoy it, so it's always ready to go when you are.
Wake or Sleep to iPod Start or end your day with your favorite music from a docked iPod. The "gentle waking" feature gradually fades in the alarm, so it doesn't jar you out of sleep, and a buzzer alarm will sound if no iPod is docked.
In addition, if there is a power outage or the iP11 is accidentally unplugged, you'll still make your appointments--just install a backup battery and you're set.
Sleep and Snooze Functions No alarm clock is complete without these two features. Snooze lets you stop the alarm for another few minutes of precious sleep, in nine minute increments.
Sleep mode lets you drift off to your favorite iPod music. You can adjust the sleep timer from 90, 60, 30 or 15 minutes, and since it features an independent volume it won't affect your alarm volume the next morning. And like the alarm, you get no abrupt surprises--it fades out slowly so you can keep snoring.
Time Sync The iP11 Time Sync feature allows you to sync the time setting on the iP11 to the time from your iPhone or recent model iPod (iPod Touch, iPod Nano and iPod Classic--older iPod models such as iPod mini do not support this feature). No need to sit and press that minute button forever.
Speaking of time, you can display it in 12 or 24 hour format, and a convenient Daylight Savings Time switch lets you instantly offset it by an hour.
Quality Sound The iP11 delivers great sound with a single high-fidelity neodymium micro driver in a specially designed Reson8 speaker chamber. Reson8 is iHome's through-body ported speaker chamber technology. Porting speakers gives better bass response characteristics, and helps the iP41 deliver sound beyond its size.
EXB sound enhancement provides expanded bass circuitry for a little low-end boost.
Line-in Jack A rear auxiliary input lets you connect and listen to any audio source, such as MP3 or CD players, for playing through the iP11's speaker.
